Leatherhead Community Association

Our objectives

The Leatherhead Community Association was established in 1977 with the objective of providing educational, social and recreational activities at the Leatherhead Institute. The Institute was given to the residents of Leatherhead by local benefactor Abraham Dixon in 1892, and is now owned by a charitable trust.

Who we are

We are a registered charity run largely by volunteers. We have over 400 members, and there are several affiliated clubs with their own memberships. We lease two-thirds of the Institute building which we use for our own activities, and for hiring our facilities to some 80 local organisations or events.

What we can offer

In the Institute there are seven rooms available for hire, comprising the Abraham Dixon Hall which accommodates up to 160 people, three large meeting rooms (seating about 40) and three smaller rooms. There are simple catering facilities, a clubroom for LCA members, and modem toilets and a lift. There is limited car parking available, but many local car parks. Click here for an interactive map showing our location.

Our activities

A lending library, weekly table tennis, snooker, scrabble and music, lectures, outings and holidays. Many other activities arranged by other organisations are open to LCA members. We produce a quarterly Newsletter for all members, which gives news of forthcoming events, and this is included in our annual membership fee of £8.00. We exist to enable your local club or voluntary organisation to establish itself in the community that is Leatherhead.
